Universal Aid Ukraine
About Us
Welcome to our team of committed volunteers who dedicate themselves to humanitarian work in Ukraine with passion and determination. Our diverse team is made up of people who come from different parts of the world and with diverse backgrounds, but all united by a common vision of alleviating the plight of the people of Ukraine.

Together we are committed to supporting people in conflict areas and emergencies. Our team brings a wide range of skills and experience to humanitarian work, whether in medical care, logistics, technical support or translation services. Our collective strength is our determination, compassion and a strong community spirit.
Lea
As a paramedic, Lea has been on humanitarian mission for Ukraine since March 2022. The prospective rescue engineering student feels at home in practice. She began her mission at the Polish border and worked its way through Lviv into eastern Ukraine. Since September 2022, she and Lars have formed a well-rehearsed team that coordinates operations in the war zone with other volunteers. Lea is also responsible for our 'rolling pharmacy', which has been delivering vital medicines to civilians on the front lines for months.
Lars
Our experienced event technician Lars gave up his life in Germany in spring 2022 to help in Ukraine. He started with logistical support in the form of relief supplies and has now become a key figure in Universal Aid Ukraine.
Lars is responsible for technical matters,
from vehicles to radios.
He also plays a crucial role in the risk analysis of our operations.
Lucas
Lucas, with years of experience in the german Bundeswehr, enriches our team in an invaluable way. Together with Lars, he is dedicated to daily risk analysis in our areas of operation. His wide range of qualifications includes medical experience as a paramedic as well as tactical training and a wide range of advanced training. With a strong love of animals, Lucas not only adopted a dog from Ukraine, but is also largely responsible for the procurement and coordinated distribution of animal food.
Sasha
Sascha is our main translator and responsible for smooth communication. His tasks include comprehensive information gathering and processing in order to draw a precise picture of the situation in different areas and ensure an appropriate response. With his outstanding talent for problem solving and his calm manner when coordinating multilingual team members in stressful situations, Alex contributes significantly to successfully implementing our mission.
Bjarne
The paramedic from Marburg plays an important role in the medical area of our team.
His responsibilities range from sourcing medical resources in Germany to transporting them to Ukraine and distributing them to civilians using our 'rolling pharmacy'. Sorting donations is also an aspect of the work that should not be underestimated, a task that requires medical expertise. His expertise and commitment make a great contribution to our missions.
Sergey
As a native Ukrainian, Sergey 'Sick' is usually at home in Kyiv. Nevertheless, in the last twelve months he has spent almost half of his time with us at the front. His role extends far beyond that of a translator. He acts as a bridge builder between our team and the local people - be it a mechanic or an older 'babushka'. With a deep understanding of the region's people and culture, he is essential to building trust with those who need our help.
Alex
Alex is an outstanding member of our team who regularly travels to Ukraine and supports us on site for 2-4 weeks. In Germany he runs his own club, the H.I.C. e.V. to collect donations. His trusty emergency vehicle and his excellent driving skills enable us to safely negotiate difficult terrain. He is also a talented fundraiser in Germany. Alex's diverse skills and dedication are invaluable to our mission and the people we serve.
Leo
Leo has also been committed to Ukraine since the beginning of the war and has been an integral part of our team since December 2022.
He communicates fluently in three languages and is predestined for particularly specialized medical translations due to his family medical background.
So he understands the worries and (health) problems better than anyone else and is indispensable alongside Lea in the distribution of medication.
